oh, bless the waters truly blue

to the lives of many men

who live the gallant life of sacrifice

and pain over and again

theirs gives a tribute to the soul

of that which doesn't always win

but expends those efforts anyway

has been this since the world began

true to traditions garnered

of many, many in the past

from Smith to Billy Tyne

and countless other thousands

here is the quest of mankind

to expand and conquer all

to rise beyond the simple fears

dying for it, or standing tall

upon the mountains or the oceans

running down fast river flows

up to the heavens beyond the clouds

or deep into the earth's bowels

we see them as heroes

we see them in their travails

we glow in their accomplishments

and watch them sometimes fail
