WELCOME TO ARIZONA POET BOB ATKINSON'S BLOG

WELCOME TO ARIZONA POET BOB ATKINSON'S BLOG of Arizona Poetry. Arizona Poetry reflects the multi-cultural heritage of the Southwestern section of North America. Arizona Poetry is reflective of how we became who we are, and how we look at where we are going. Arizona Poetry is us, not you and them.

WILL BE POSTING, FROM TIME TO TIME, MORE STORIES FROM MY BOOK "ARIZONA CULTURAL INFLUENCES - ACI".... THESE ARE TRUE HISTORICAL STORIES WHICH MAY BE RESEARCHED AT THE LIBRARY OR ON LINE, ALTHOUGH I DO NOT CLAIM THEM TO BE HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS, AND HENCE
DO NOT ATTEMPT PERFECT HISTORICAL ACCURACY.
THE ATTEMPT IS TO GET PEOPLE THINKING HOW ALL SIDES FELT ABOUT THE EVENTS, SO AS TO HELP US ALL LEARN MODERATION IN OUR FUTURE ACTIONS.

IN ADDITION, I MAY POST SOME OTHER, NOT SO SERIOUS POEMS I'VE WRITTEN ABOUT LIFE AND LIFE EXPERIENCES.

The Road of the Lords of Rouergue by Bob Atkinson

The Road of the Lords of Rouergue

(c)2012 Bob Atkinson

perhaps it is the romance in us
that looks behind for better stuff
the sights we see are filtered through
our desires for something old that's new

or can we see honor in
the status that has forever been
sewn into the fabric of life
trials and solutions to daily strife

such was the mind-set in my head
as my search for beauty settled on
the Chateau de Belcastel's pretty face
bade me imagine ladies dressed in lace

give me apartments in the castle
an elevator so I can waddle
down to the village for commercial stuff
restaurants, good eating and such

a sidewalk cafe for passing time
with my love, or friends of mine
parking garage buried into
the hill behind so it can't be seen

a theater for live performance
a screen showing some exciting horrors
dangling thoughts of speakers there
so much culture in the air

orchestras playing those pretty tunes
or current bands with their big booms
talented singers or dancing swingers
let the show go on right here

my time is spent pondering this
how much value do I see in it?
not so so much, but it feels good
to know my dreamed of neighborhood
